There will be 2 parts to this topic, so I’ll be splitting it to:
My Consultation & Surgery Day
My Post-Op Recovery
So let’s speed things up a little. As you might have already know my reason behind my decision to this surgery, if not please read “It Took Me 10 Years…”.
Continuing from where I stopped previously. I called up Allure Plastic Surgery to book an appointment to see Dr Samuel Ho for my first Breast Augmentation consultation. The first consultation was like a “clearing-of-doubts” session with Dr Samuel Ho and my chest was being examined to check on the shape, balance and skin (thickness and elasticity). Doctor then gave me his advice on how big my implants could go and the type of implants (round/teardrop) he would recommend me to go for. That session lasted about 30 min, because I had alot of questions. Thank god Dr Samuel Ho was extremely patient.
I was more or less ready for my Breast Augmentation surgery, but the problem was the size. To be honest, I really have zero idea what cup size will look good on me. Yes, you might say, since you going for this op, the bigger the better lah!
Yes! Previously when I haven’t decided on the surgery, I also think the same. But after much consideration of daily routines, clothes restriction and all, I’m quite BLANK actually. Yes, I want it full, perky and nice, BUT, I don’t want to walk around and people say I got FAKE BOOBS.
Doctor understood my situation and advice me to make another consultation session with the clinic the following week to do a Breast Implant Trial Volume Sizing Fitting Session. This session will enable a real-life simulation of how the actual implants will look on the patient. And Allure Plastic Surgery is one of the first clinic in Singapore to have this service. Normal clinic will only use 3D Simulation System to give the patient a visual gauge on how the implants will look like on them. And many of time, it differs greatly from the actual. And I thank god I was so privileged to be the first patient in Allure Plastic Surgery to get this fitting session done.
I had a week to digest what Doctor told me and to really think about what chest size I wanted. Because I know, this will change my life forever.
On my 2nd consultation at Allure Plastic Surgery . I will decide on the type and shape of implants I’ll be using and the size most suitable for my body. And this will be my last “clearing-of-doubts” session with Dr Samuel Ho .
Breast Implants comes in 2 shapes: Round and Teardrop
Depending on what results you want to achieve, the Doctor will then recommend you which is shape will be best for your case. For my case, I want a more natural look, so I’m going for the Teardrop.
Breast Implants comes in 2 types: Saline and Silicon
I’ll be going for Silicon because the shape is more stable and I like the feel of how the implants is upon touching. It feels like the real thing.
Next is the Breast Implant Trial Volume Sizing Fitting Session
Below is an array of different silicon insert sizes (measured in cc)
These inserts are to be placed above your existing breast and with a tight fitted top or a bralette, you will be able to have a realistic projection of how the implants will look like on you. Of course, the Doctor will recommend the sizes for you and you can opt to size up or down depending on your preference. If you have a cup size you want you can also tell Doctor so he could recommend the correct silicon insert size for you to try on.
Did the projection work accurately for me?
It did. But you need to bear in mind, because you are so used to your original breast size, having this fitting session might overwhelm you a little. Because for me, I was kinda overwhelmed by the huge difference it made to me at first and I kind of worried if I got too big. But I did not factor that I was wearing a bralette with padding that time so, in my opinion, it’s best if you know what cup size you want and also ask Doctor what cup size will you be after inserting this implant size. That will be more realistic. The projection for this fitting is slightly more than the actual results but it did help me visualise the actual results. And I highly recommend you to do this fitting session.
There are also alot of Breast Implants Brand in the market. And I’m going for the most trusted and reputable brand, Mentor.
I got my surgery date fixed and I’m all ready for that day to come.
25th April 2017
It was a relatively hush surgery. I didn’t tell my Mum nor anyone in my family. I only told 2 people. 1 was my reader another was my manicurist. LOL! (I have my own reasons okay…)
I did what was advice by the clinic to wear loose button top and bring a silicon nipple patch (optional) so I can put it after my surgery. Of course, I brought my camera along to document down this important day.
So before I left home, I just wanted a ONE LAST LOOK on my old chest.
Off I go! No looking back! Bye Bye~
Feeling super duper excited and nervous (I actually couldn’t sleep the night before). And I have even forgotten my crazy train ride journey to the clinic. And yes! I arrived at Allure Plastic Surgery earlier than the appointment time.
No food or drinks 12 hours before surgery, so I was ushered to a private waiting room to wait for further instructions.
I did some administrative stuff like signing consent forms, getting my medication dispensed and I issued a Stabilising Bra for my post-op aftercare. And of course, I had to make my payment.
Then I proceed to get my height and weight taken by the nurse.
And off to the surgery waiting room to get changed and Dr Samuel Ho will do his last measurements and marking on my body before the procedure.
This is the brand new, sealed Mentor Memory Gel Implants that I’ll be using for my Breast Augmentation Surgery. I’ll be inserting a 260cc to get a full C cup.
And just before I proceeded to the operating theatre I confessed to my mum on the surgery and I was all good to go!
Surgery took about 1~1.5hrs
I was put under General Anesthesia (GA).
I woke up 1 hour after the surgery and I just continued to rest on the bed till late afternoon.
How I felt?
Nauseous, aches, pain and tired. Nothing much, just normal side effects after GA. It was all bearable. I asked for more painkillers because I didn’t want to deal with any pain after. So if you are like me, talk to the nurse or doctor. They will know what to do.
Did I have issues mobilising?
Nope! Only felt the tightness at the chest area and I just had to get used to the implants. Overall, it was a breeze.
One VERY IMPORTANT thing, you’ll need to call someone to escort you home. It’s for your own safety. At first I thought I didn’t need anyone, but after being reminded from time to time by the nurses, I decided to activate a friend (I didn’t tell him what I was doing too and where was it. I just said Wisma Atria lol). But, I seriously thank god that I made that move to call someone at least. So don’t act hero!
My friend didn’t do much but he provided moral support and an outlet for me to whine about my aches and pains. And I also felt safer when someone I know was just beside me.
We took a cab back btw. And I do recommend you to do the same too. Because you can’t afford to get random people pushing on to you if you were to catch a bus or train.
I’ll be writing on Post-Op in the next post. Look out for it!
